BFA 2011
The annual Bride’s Photo Awards (BFA) organized by Bruid en Bruidegom is running again! The past two years I was very privilege to receive the BFA Award in 2 different categories so entering again was a great pleasure. Going through all the photo’s is very time consuming but certainly worth it.
For the 2011 contest here in Holland they’ve introduced a new category called ‘Wedding Children’ which makes me very happy because children are often a very important part of the day. The 6 categories are: Bride in the Spotlight, Bridegroom in the Picture, Wedding Children, Wedding and Emotion, Bride and Groom and the Free Category.
Another big change was that we could enter 3 photo’s per category (gave me more room) but there is only room for one of your photo’s to be nominated per category. Otherwise than with the WPJA where you can have multiple winners in one category (which I like). The 24th of December 2010 the nominated photo’s will be announced and if I have the privilege to be part of the nominees I will announce it on my blog!
For the past year I made an effort to encourage local photographers to take part in this contest because it is good for the Netherlands that we have a strong local competition because it will help us to only get better and develop more and provide the wedding couples with more quality. The 2011 edition of the Bruid en Bruidegom’s BFA contest was also introduced to our colleagues across the borders and the BFA goes Europe now. Photographers from Germany and Belgium also take part this year which caused a little chaos at the headquarters because they received more than twice as many entries than last year.
To give you an idea of my entries, I created a slideshow. The FIRST 18 pictures are my ENTRIES in 6 different categories!! The pictures that follow then is the broader selection from which I made my final selection with the name of each category mentioned on the first photo of that serie.
